Yoga and Wellbeing Weekend

Friday 16th August to Sunday 18th August 2019.


The retreat will be held at The Abbey, Sutton Courtenay, just 10 miles south of Oxford. The Abbey is a very special place with delicious vegetarian food, very beautiful gardens and a lovely nourishing energy and atmosphere. The peace and tranquillity of the Abbey and its 4 acres of grounds provide a very relaxing environment. Further details about the venue, including how to get there, can be found here

What’s included

  • Four gentle yoga sessions combined with breathwork, relaxation and meditation
  • Delicious vegetarian meals (dietary requirements can be catered for)
  • Informative nutrition talks
  • An afternoon workshop with a licensed Gateway Woman facilitator
  • Two nights’ accommodation in simple but comfortable rooms

All activities are optional and you can do as few or as many as you wish. You may want to explore the local area with walks along the nearby Thames, or perhaps just curl up with a book and relax. You can also book a massage as an optional extra (not included in the price). At the end of the weekend we hope you will leave the retreat feeling both relaxed and refreshed.

Friday: 4 pm Arrivals; 5 pm Yoga and meditation; 7 pm Dinner

Saturday:  7.15 am Yoga and meditation; 9 am Breakfast; 11 am Free-time with option for nutrition talk or massage;
1 pm Lunch;  2 pm Workshop;  5 pm Yoga and meditation; 7 pm Dinner

Sunday: 7.15 am Yoga and meditation; 9  am Breakfast; 11 am Free-time with option of nutrition talk or massage;

Yoga and meditation – Sophia Andeh

Sophia is passionate that everyone can benefit from yoga, and her aim is to teach yoga that is accessible to everyone. She believes that yoga is not just about the physical as so often depicted around us, but also about the mind-breath-body connection; it can help our journey through grief. Yoga has helped her to find peace in the day-to-day moments of life. Sophia is a fully qualified British Wheel of Yoga teacher, and teaches therapeutic gentle yoga and Yin yoga.

Nutrition – Grace Neal

When it comes to our health and wellbeing Grace believes that prevention is better than cure. During Grace’s career as a dietician she has worked in a hospital treating patients with various conditions including malnutrition, liver disease and diabetes. She then moved into the community setting based mainly in GP practices; eventually specialising in diabetes. She has also provided dietetic advice in a corporate setting running comprehensive ‘Nutrition and Lifestyle’ programmes for employees.

Gateway Women Workshop – led by licensed GW trainer
Lauren de Vere

A solicitor by training, Lauren has undertaken in-depth personal development.  She first came across Gateway Women several years ago, desperate to understand whether her struggle to recover from involuntary childlessness and a failed adoption process was unique to her and/or if she was going crazy. Through Gateway Women she found a hugely supportive network and has been active both at a local level with GW Meetups as well as attending Gateway Women’s 2017 year-long Plan B Mentorship Programme and training with GW’s Founder Jody Day to lead GW workshops. Twin room (4 spaces): £325 Early bird // £365 Full rate // Book with a non-refundable £125 deposit

(Please note that none of the rooms are en-suite. Two twin rooms contain a shower).

To qualify for the Early bird rate spaces must be paid for in full by May 23rd. Full rates need to be paid by July 17th.
